Hyundai Creta Electric Now Starts at Rs 10.99 Lakh With New Battery Subscription Plan

Hyundai Motor India has introduced a new Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option for the Hyundai Creta Electric, making the electric SUV significantly more affordable for buyers. Under this new ownership model, the starting price of the Creta EV has been reduced to Rs 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom), while customers pay separately for battery usage based on the distance they drive.

For buyers who prefer to own the vehicle and battery together, the Hyundai Creta Electric will continue to be available at a starting price of Rs 18.03 lakh (ex-showroom).

Hyundai Creta EV BaaS Scheme Explained

The Battery-as-a-Service programme is designed to lower the upfront purchase cost of the electric SUV. Instead of buying the battery outright, customers can rent it by paying Rs 3.90 per kilometre. This model is expected to make EV ownership more accessible, especially for buyers looking to reduce their initial investment.

With this move, Hyundai joins the growing list of automakers offering flexible ownership options to encourage electric vehicle adoption in India.

New Features Added to the Creta Electric

Alongside the new pricing structure, Hyundai has also updated the Creta Electric with an integrated side step on selected variants, making it easier for passengers to get in and out of the SUV.

The company has also revised the charging equipment. Every variant now comes with a 7.4kW AC wall charger as standard. Earlier, some higher-end variants were equipped with an 11kW charger. However, Hyundai continues to provide an onboard charging system across the entire lineup.

Battery Options, Driving Range and Performance

The Hyundai Creta Electric is available with two battery pack choices—a 42kWh unit and a larger 51.4kWh battery.

The smaller battery delivers a claimed driving range of 420 km on a full charge, while the larger battery offers an impressive 510 km of certified range.

Both versions use a single electric motor. The standard model produces 135 PS, while the long-range variant generates 171 PS, offering stronger acceleration and better highway performance.

The long-range version can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.9 seconds, making it one of the quickest electric SUVs in its segment.

    Fast Charging and Drive Modes

Charging the Creta Electric is convenient with DC fast charging support. Using a compatible fast charger, the battery can be recharged from 10% to 80% in approximately 58 minutes.

Drivers can also choose between Eco, Normal, and Sport drive modes to match different road conditions and driving styles.

    Premium Features and Safety Technology

The Hyundai Creta Electric offers a premium cabin loaded with modern technology. It comes equipped with dual 10.25-inch digital displays for the infotainment system and instrument cluster, along with a redesigned steering wheel inspired by Hyundai’s global EV models.

Other notable features include a panoramic sunroof, ventilated and powered front seats, automatic climate control, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, a 360-degree camera, a digital key, and connected car technology.

On the safety front, the SUV is equipped with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Key features include Lane Keeping Assist, Forward Collision Warning, Blind Spot Collision Warning, and Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, providing added confidence on both city roads and highways.

    Final Thoughts

With the introduction of the Battery-as-a-Service programme, Hyundai has made the Creta Electric far more accessible to Indian buyers. The combination of a lower entry price, flexible battery subscription model, long driving range, premium features, and advanced safety technology makes the Creta EV a compelling option in the growing electric SUV market.

  • Yamaha YZF-R2 Expected to Launch in India Soon With a New 200cc Engine

Yamaha YZF-R2 Expected to Launch in India Soon With a New 200cc Engine

Yamaha could soon expand its popular R-series lineup in India with the introduction of the Yamaha YZF-R2. Industry reports suggest that the company is preparing to launch a brand-new 200cc fully-faired sports motorcycle, possibly as early as next month. While Yamaha has not made an official announcement yet, the company registered the YZF-R2 trademark in India last year, adding weight to the speculation.

The Yamaha R15 has been one of the most successful entry-level sports bikes in the country for years. Now, Yamaha appears ready to offer enthusiasts a more powerful option that sits above the R15 without replacing it.

A Bigger Engine for Better Performance

The biggest highlight of the upcoming Yamaha YZF-R2 is expected to be its new 200cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine. Although the engine is likely to be based on the same platform as the R15’s 155cc motor, it should deliver noticeably better performance.

Reports indicate that the motorcycle could produce around 25 PS of power and 19 Nm of peak torque. The engine is also expected to come paired with a 6-speed gearbox and Yamaha’s proven Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) technology, offering smoother power delivery across different RPM ranges.

This combination should make the bike more enjoyable for both daily commuting and spirited highway riding.

Premium Hardware Could Be Carried Forward

Yamaha is likely to equip the YZF-R2 with several premium components already seen on the R15. The motorcycle is expected to feature USD front forks, a rear monoshock suspension, and Yamaha’s Deltabox frame, which is known for its excellent handling characteristics.

The bike could also get an aluminium swingarm, front and rear disc brakes, and dual-channel ABS as standard. If these components make it to production, riders can expect confident braking performance and stable handling through corners.

    Loaded With Modern Features

Apart from its mechanical upgrades, the Yamaha YZF-R2 is expected to offer a long list of modern features. Yamaha may carry forward the technology package from the R15, which includes a quick shifter, assist and slipper clutch, traction control system, Class-D bi-functional LED headlamp, side-stand engine cut-off, and Y-Connect smartphone connectivity.

These features would make the motorcycle one of the most technologically advanced options in the 200cc sports bike segment.

Where Will It Fit in Yamaha’s Lineup?

The arrival of the Yamaha YZF-R2 will not affect the position of the Yamaha R15. Instead, the new model is expected to be positioned above it, giving buyers an upgrade path within Yamaha’s R-series family.

With this launch, Yamaha could finally enter the competitive 200cc sports bike segment, where it would take on rivals like the Bajaj Pulsar RS200, Hero Karizma XMR, and KTM RC 200.

    Final Thoughts

Although Yamaha is yet to officially confirm the launch date or specifications, the Yamaha YZF-R2 has already created excitement among motorcycle enthusiasts. If the expected engine, premium hardware, and feature list become a reality, the new sports bike could become a strong contender in India’s growing 200cc motorcycle market.

Riders looking for more performance than the Yamaha R15 without stepping into a much higher price bracket may find the Yamaha YZF-R2 worth waiting for.
